Florida law generally requires a current Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection for a dog offered for sale in the state, completed by a Florida-licensed, federally accredited veterinarian, with a copy provided to the buyer. Statutory scope and exceptions apply.

Microchip

Important: not a universal statewide breeder-sale mandate

Florida’s statewide law does not currently require every breeder transaction to include a microchip. Local rules, seller promises or particular programs may require one. When a seller says an animal is microchipped, ProvenPet can compare that number with the vet record, certificate and handoff scan.
